The relationship between problem-solving and job-satisfaction of school administrators

Abstract

Nowadays knowledge began to be the most important power and as an educational institution, schools’ capability of meeting the expected social need by offering quality and effective education largely depends on the way the schools are managed. And the way schools are managed undoubtedly depends on the satisfaction that school administrators get from their jobs and also on their being physically and psychologically healthy.In today’s societies, school administrators are expected to have the abilities of thinking, producing, accurately detecting and solving the problems and deciding calmly in times of crisis. It can be said that, school administrators who have effective problem-solving capabilities and a high job-satisfaction can have a role in increasing the quality of education in their schools. For this reason, the main purpose of the study is to analyze the relationship between problem-solving and job-satisfaction of school administrators in terms of various variables.Study population consisted of 605 school principals and vice-principals working in primary and secondary schools under the supervision of Ministry of Education in Çorum province and its districts. 250 school administrators who could be reached through sampling consisted of the sampling of this study. For data collection in the study, Personal Information Form, Problem-Solving Inventory and Minnesota Job Satisfaction Questionnaire were used.At the end of the analysis it was found that there was a positive and significant relationship between problem solving skills and job satisfaction levels of school administrators.
