Determination of the constraints on recreational participation of university students

Abstract

The purpose of the study was determining the constraints on recreational activities of university students. For this purpose “Leisure Constraints Scale” used, which has been developed by Gürbüz and Karaküçük (2007). 235 university students from Dumlupınar, Sakarya and Gazi University and PE and Sport Teacher Education department participated to this study voluntarily to this study.The total internal consistency (Cronbach Alpha) of the scale was found .87. As a result of statistical analyses to one way variance (ANOVA), there was a statistical difference in “Facilities/Services/Accessibility”, “Social Environment and Lack of Knowledge” and “Individual Psychological” sub-scales with respect to university categories. Independent Samples t-test analysis indicated that there was no significant difference between the groups gender.
