Abstract

Geography, which is developing rapidly and getting attention in the countries of the European Union and the United States of America, has unfortunately not received the value that it deserves. Moreover, some of the problems related to geography education that were brought forward in the 1950s are yet to be solved. In this study, some of the main problems occuring in Turkey in geography education are scrutinized.

Author Biography

Mete Alım, Atatürk Üniversitesi Kazım Karabekir Eğitim fakültesi Coğrafya Eğitimi anabilim Dalı

Mete Alım, 1975 yılında Iğdır’da doğdu. İlk ve orta öğrenimini Iğdır’da tamamladı. 1996 yılında Atatürk Üniversitesi Kazım Karabekir Eğitim Fakültesi Coğrafya Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı’ndan mezun oldu. Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı çeşitli okullarda öğretmen olarak çalıştı. Nisan 2000’de, Kazım Karabekir Eğitim Fakültesi Coğrafya Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı’nda araştırma görevlisi olarak göreve başladı. "Dokuzuncu Sınıf Coğrafya Öğretim Programının Öğretmen Ve Öğrenci Görüşlerine Göre Değerlendirilmesi"  adlı Doktora çalışması yapan Alım, aynı fakültede öğretim üyesi olarak görevini sürdürmektedir.
