Abstract

This study examines the experiences of socioeconomically disadvantaged women attending courses at the Social Solidarity Center (SODAM) in Kırıkkale, Türkiye, with psychodrama-based group work. The study was designed as a qualitative case study; data were drawn from session observation notes and participants’ written feedback at the end of each session, and analyzed using content analysis. The study group consisted of 10 women attending SODAM courses who volunteered to participate and completed the program. Following ethics approval, a total of six sessions, each lasting 90 minutes, were conducted between April and May 2025 by the first author, a psychodramatist. Content analysis conducted with MAXQDA25 yielded three main themes: invisible burdens and relational pressures, transformative contributions of psychodrama, and identity reconstruction. Participants’ narratives suggest that the psychodrama process was experienced as transformative in terms of building emotional awareness, boundary-setting, and the reconstruction of their identities. Based on these findings, it is recommended that psychodrama experiential groups be expanded in institutions such as SODAM and conducted for longer durations.
