Abstract

This research was made with the aim to develop an “Attitude Scale for Assessment and Evaluation” to determine teachers’ attitudes towards assessment and evaluation, besides it is aimed to put forth If the social studies teachers’ attitude levels are differed or not in terms of variables “gender”, “age”, “seniority” and “settlement”. The 549 social studies teachers from all provinces of Turkey who joined to in-service training seminars organized by the Ministry of National Education constitute the study group. As a result of research, the scale consisted of 22 items and three factors. As a result of scale measurements, it is identified that social studies teachers’ attitude levels are not high enough towards assessment and evaluation and there is not a differentiation according to the variables “gender”, “age”, “Professional level of seniority” and “the settlement of the task”.
