Assessment of the study on contribution of education volunteer opinion leaders (natural leaders) to school administration

Abstract

Current study aims at recognizing natural leaders living in Goynucek town, preparing inventory of natural leaders, making leaders of the society education volunteers, working together with natural leaders on education issues, doing studies to solve problems of education together with volunteers of natural leaders, and assessing and reporting the results.  This is a descriptive research study with mixed design where both qualitative and quantitative research methods are employed together. The study is an action research. Within this scope, an action plan with nine steps is prepared. In the action plan, opinion leaders (natural leaders) in Goynucek town were determined, they were given a two-day training, and then actions of opinion leaders were observed in three month periods. Data collected during the first nine month period of the study is analyzed and presented in this paper. According to the results of the study, it is come out that those opinion leaders who had gained awareness on education assisted school principals on 7 themes and with a total of 22 subjects. This study can be conducted in bigger residential areas as well
